frequently asked questions
Will a claim affect my monthly payments?
No. The claim is not against Nurture and asks nothing of them. It is against the solicitors who acted for you on your purchase.
Do I have to sell my apartment?
No. Absolutely not. You can pursue a claim while keeping your apartment and your agreement.
Will Nurture know I've joined?
They will not know that you have registered your interest or that you are being advised about your position.
If you decide to join a claim against your former solicitor, Nurture will not be directly involved but we cannot guarantee that they will remain unaware of the claim. However, the claim will not involve them and will not affect your contractual relationship with them.
What happens if the firm of solicitors I used has closed?
You can still claim. The insurance company who covered the law firm when they closed remain liable to deal with any claims for six years after closure.
What is the charge for the claim?
It costs nothing to register or to have your documents reviewed.
If the claim goes ahead it will be made on a ‘No Win, No Fee’ basis with no upfront cost.
The charge will be a percentage of the damages recovered for you.
The percentage charge has not yet been finalised and depends on the review by the lawyers. As a general rule, the more people who participate, the lower the percentage a suitable law firm can charge.
All fees will be set out in writing before you agree to anything.
I'm still being paid. Why would I make a claim?
Because the claim is about whether you were properly advised and what you paid for your property, not whether payments continue. It protects your position either way, and the time limit on making a claim runs regardless.
Can I participate if I don't have my paperwork?
Yes. With your permission, our solicitors will request your file directly from your former solicitors.
